If you can control your mind, you can control your life. If you can master your thoughts for the next 12 hours, you can master them for the next 12 months. Here’s the truth: once the battle of the mind is won, the rest is clean up!
That’s because our emotions and our bodies will follow the direction of whatever consistently dominates our minds. Therefore, if you change your thinking, you can completely transform your life. You should start today. No, you should start right now, because a brand new life experience begins with your next thought!
Here’s five effective ways to take control of your rebellious head!
1. REJECT EVERY NEGATIVE THOUGHT WHEN IT FIRST APPEARS IN YOUR MIND
You know those negative thoughts that you say are tormenting you? The ones that you claim you can’t get free from? You could seriously damage them by discovering and doing one thing: reject them when they first enter your mind because THAT is when they are the weakest!
All you have to do is train yourself to inspect the thoughts that enter your mind, and if any thought doesn’t pass inspection, throw it out! At that point, it’ll be too weak take up residence in your head!
2. STOP WASTING SO MUCH OF THE ONLY LIFE YOU’VE GOT WATCHING TV
They estimate that the average person watches up to 5 hours of television per day. Holy shit! That’s 1,825 hours per year or 76 days! Here’s what makes it worse: watching television puts your mind in a passive position, which means you’re not working the main muscle you should be working.
How about cutting your TV time in half and replace it with reading books that ignite and exercise your mind? And I recommend non-fiction. Biographies, how-to, or anything that argues a position. You should be feeding your lust to learn!
3. USE YOUR WORDS TO FORCE YOUR MIND TO THINK THE WAY YOU WANT
Did you know that your mind will follow your mouth? Try it right now. Whatever you start speaking will immediately take control of your thoughts. How about using this to your advantage?
Sit down and list the main areas you struggle with in your mind. Do you need more confidence? Are you always ruining things by your anger? Do you always think negative? Do you believe you don’t have what it takes to succeed?
Write out “statements of a new belief” for those problem areas and keep them with you. Then, recite them over and over throughout the day—even whisper them if you’re around others. Watch how your mind changes in just one week!
4. START ACTING LIKE A MONK AND MEDITATE
I love to meditate, but I DON’T do it to escape the world. I meditate to equip myself to INVADE the world, and that’s how you should meditate.

The problem is that our minds have gone their own way, and we haven’t consistently disciplined and trained them. One of the most effective ways to do that is meditation. If you can learn to control your thoughts for just 10 minutes, you’ll be better able to control them throughout the day.
For at least 10 minutes three times per day, stop and meditate—preferably when you wake up, eat lunch, and before you go to bed.
5. GUARD YOUR HEAD FROM THE “MIND SQUATTERS”
Circumstances and people are like thieves looking to rob your mind, but the only one who can guard it is you. Get selfish about your mind space. Declare “No Vacancy” to whomever is looking to take up residence there.
You even need to do this with personal relationships, because one of the ways people seek to control you is by placing themselves in your mind. They want you worried about pleasing them, impressing them, losing them, or making them angry. To hell with that! Kick them out!
